Iran head coach Amir Ghalenoei has described his squad as the “most oppressed team in the World Cup” amid ongoing logistical and travel issues.

His comments came after Iran were told to return immediately to Mexico following their 2-2 draw against New Zealand in Los Angeles, limiting recovery time for players.

Ghalenoei said the team had earlier been informed they would be allowed to stay longer in the United States but were later instructed to leave without explanation.

He also criticised visa delays and travel disruptions that affected team preparations before and during the tournament.

Iran striker Mehdi Taremi also called the situation a “disaster”, saying the lack of support had created stress for players and staff.

The team has faced repeated logistical challenges, including last-minute travel arrangements and relocation of their training base from the United States to Mexico.

Despite the difficulties, Iran’s coaching staff said they remain focused on performance and are determined not to let off-field issues affect results.
