Intense heat continues to grip Sindh and Balochistan regions

KARACHI: The hot and dry weather spell continues across most parts of the country, with several areas in Sindh and Balochistan experiencing scorching temperatures.

According to the Met Office, temperatures in Turbat are expected to reach 45°C, while Mithi, Jacobabad and Nawabshah may see highs of around 44°C.

In Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana, the maximum temperature is likely to remain near 42°C.

Karachi has seen a slight drop compared to the previous day, but the weather is expected to remain hot and dry, with temperatures reaching up to 38°C, the Met Office said on Wednesday.

The weather department has warned that another heatwave is expected in Sindh from May 7, while Karachi may experience a further spell of rising temperatures from May 13. It also ruled out any chance of rainfall in the city during May, based on current forecasts.

Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

Karachi had earlier sizzled earlier this week, recording temperatures above 40°C due to the suspension of sea breeze and persistent hot, dry northwesterly winds, pushing parts of the city into heatwave conditions.

The extreme heat has also raised health concerns, with reports of fatalities in the metropolis amid the ongoing heatwave conditions.
