CM Maryam expands support for farmers through tractor subsidy schemes

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has reiterated her commitment to modernizing the agriculture sector, stating that the use of advanced agricultural machinery has become essential for increasing productivity and supporting farmers.

In a statement, the chief minister said the Punjab government is helping small farmers adopt modern farming practices by providing access to advanced agricultural machinery on a rental basis.

Highlighting ongoing initiatives, Maryam Nawaz said that under the Chief Minister’s Green Tractor Scheme, a subsidy of Rs1 million has been provided on 9,500 high-power tractors. In addition, 10,000 tractors with capacities ranging from 50 to 65 horsepower are being supplied to farmers with a subsidy of Rs500,000 each.

The chief minister also announced that 20,000 green tractors will be distributed among farmers during the next fiscal year as part of efforts to promote mechanised farming and boost agricultural output across the province.

She emphasized that the Punjab government remains committed to supporting farmers and introducing modern technology to strengthen the agricultural sector and improve rural livelihoods.
