China has told Iran that Beijing is prepared to play a “greater role” in efforts aimed at ending ongoing fighting in the Middle East, signaling increased diplomatic involvement in the regional crisis.

The remarks came during high-level discussions between Chinese and Iranian officials, as international pressure grows for a negotiated settlement and broader regional de-escalation.

Chinese officials reiterated Beijing’s support for dialogue, ceasefire efforts, and political solutions, while stressing the importance of maintaining stability in the Gulf region and safeguarding international trade routes.

Iran welcomed China’s diplomatic engagement, with both sides reportedly discussing ways to support ongoing mediation efforts and reduce the risk of further escalation.

China has increasingly positioned itself as a mediator in regional disputes, advocating multilateral diplomacy and opposing prolonged military confrontation.
