China’s top diplomat, Wang Yi, said the next stage of US-Iran negotiations will be more difficult than the first.
Speaking with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Wang said the current understanding between Washington and Tehran is only the beginning of a longer process.
He stressed that lasting peace in the Middle East and Gulf region will require continued efforts from all parties.
Wang also called on the United Nations Security Council to play a greater role in supporting the negotiations.
The two ministers agreed to maintain engagement for the peaceful resolution of outstanding issues.
They highlighted the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, describing it as vital for global trade, energy security and the world economy.
China said it is willing to work with Pakistan to help promote peace and stability in the region.
