United States and Iran have reportedly signed a preliminary ceasefire agreement, though full details have not yet been released.
Donald Trump said the deal aims to extend an existing ceasefire by 60 days and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy corridor.
He said the agreement was “electronically signed” and that a formal ceremony is expected in Geneva later this week.
The deal reportedly includes discussions on Iran’s nuclear program and possible sanctions relief, but officials say many details remain uncertain.
Iranian officials described the agreement as an “important step” but stressed that a permanent truce has not yet been finalized.
The proposed framework may include lifting sanctions, unfreezing assets and creating economic support packages, but these measures depend on further negotiations.
Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would maintain its security position in southern Lebanon and continue operations against threats from Hezbollah.
Despite the announcement, both sides confirmed that fighting in some areas has not fully stopped, and several key issues remain unresolved.
