Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit has spoken about age-related bias in the film industry, urging women to actively challenge stereotypes and expand the range of roles available to them.

At a promotional event for her upcoming Maa Behan, the actor engaged in a discussion on long-standing double standards in Bollywood, where male actors often continue playing romantic leads well into later stages of their careers, while female actors are frequently restricted to limited roles.

Responding to a question from the audience, Madhuri acknowledged the imbalance but said change must also come from within the industry, encouraging women to take on more diverse and unconventional roles.

She also reflected on her approach to balancing work and personal life, saying her family remains her top priority and that she carefully chooses projects to maintain that balance.

The event also featured co-star Triptii Dimri and digital creator Dharna Durga, who is transitioning into mainstream cinema with the same project.

Dharna spoke about her journey from social media to films, describing it as a goal-driven path shaped by her digital success and aspirations in the entertainment industry.

The discussion included light-hearted moments, with co-stars sharing behind-the-scenes stories about Madhuri’s sense of humour and her ability to entertain the crew off-camera.

Madhuri was also playfully described by her colleagues as approachable yet inspiring, with the cast sharing humorous anecdotes about their interactions during filming.
