Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir has officially received British citizenship and a passport, media reports confirm.

Amir, who has lived in the UK for several years with his British-born wife Nargis Khan and their children, completed all residency and legal requirements before obtaining nationality.

This development makes him technically eligible to play in the IPL, where Pakistani players are otherwise barred.

The BCCI has long maintained restrictions on Pakistani cricketers, though former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood played in the league after securing British citizenship.

Amir has reshared congratulatory messages on social media and may consider joining an IPL franchise if approached.

The left-arm fast bowler has previously expressed interest in participating in the IPL, and this new status could finally make it possible.
