A powerful explosion near the Marai Check Post in Kohat killed one person and injured four others, according to police and rescue officials.

Authorities said the blast occurred inside a vehicle parked near the check post area. Initial investigations indicated that the explosion originated in the rear portion of the vehicle, although officials have not yet confirmed the exact nature or cause of the blast.
Following the incident, Rescue 1122 teams and a heavy police contingent reached the site and launched rescue and security operations.
The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for emergency medical treatment, while law enforcement personnel cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation around the blast site.
Police said investigations are underway to determine whether the explosion was caused by explosive material or another factor. Officials added that further details would be shared after completion of the preliminary inquiry.
The incident has heightened security concerns in the region, where authorities remain on alert amid ongoing threats and security challenges.
