Pakistan signals tougher retaliation to any future aggression by India

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Tuesday praised the armed forces’ response to what he described as Indian aggression during “Marka-e-Haq,” warning that any future hostility would be met with an even “more forceful” reply.

Speaking at the launch of a picture book titled The Battle of Truth (Marka-e-Haq)—published by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in collaboration with Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)—the minister said the nation remained united against external threats.

He added that Pakistan had emerged stronger and more stable, and was prepared for “any kind of Indian proxy war.”

Referring to last year’s conflict, Asif said tensions escalated after India blamed Pakistan for an attack on tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK)—an allegation Islamabad denied while calling for a neutral investigation. He accused India of following the claims with missile strikes inside Pakistan, resulting in civilian and security casualties.

The minister said Pakistan responded with retaliatory action, including targeting multiple Indian military sites. The conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbours ended on May 10 with a ceasefire reportedly brokered by the United States.

Asif reiterated that Pakistan’s armed forces had “foiled India’s designs” and maintained that the country remains committed to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also criticised India’s regional policies, calling them a challenge to peace in South Asia, while asserting that Pakistan has consistently advocated restraint and played a constructive role globally, including through contributions to United Nations peacekeeping missions.

Reaffirming national unity, the defence minister said the people and armed forces would remain prepared to respond to future challenges, describing the newly launched book as a reflection of the country’s resolve, sacrifices, and commitment to stability.
