A school bus accident in Swat’s Darmai Landi Cham area on Tuesday claimed the life of a student and injured at least 20 others, police and rescue officials said.
According to the initial report, the bus carrying more than 40 female students overturned after a suspected brake failure. The vehicle reportedly went out of control before leaving the road.
Rescue officials identified the deceased student as Hoorain, daughter of Khurshid, a resident of Landi Cham. The injured students were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, where several remain in critical condition.
Three women pedestrians were also injured when the bus veered off the road. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are reviewing the vehicle’s fitness and safety condition.
