NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Security forces killed 27 “India-backed Fitna al-Khawarij” militants in the Miran Shah area over the past 72 hours, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said multiple militant hideouts were targeted during intelligence-based operations in the region.

According to ISPR, heavy exchanges of fire took place, resulting in the killing of all 27 militants. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the site.

The statement said the militants were involved in various terrorist activities, including attacks on civilians and security forces.

ISPR added that the operation avenged the killing of Malik Saifullah Dawar, a prominent local figure, whose attackers were among those neutralised.

Security forces have intensified operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and surrounding areas amid a rise in militant activity in recent years.

Authorities say counterterrorism operations will continue to target networks involved in violence and cross-border militancy.
