Speaking at a ceremony marking the 37th death anniversary of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the ambassador expressed gratitude to the Government of Pakistan and the country’s military leadership for their efforts in supporting dialogue between Tehran and Washington.

He also thanked the people of Pakistan for their support of Iran and the people of Gaza, saying the Iranian nation deeply appreciates the solidarity shown during challenging times.

Ambassador Moghadam said Iran remains committed to resolving issues through negotiations, but stressed that any agreement must respect Iran’s national interests. He added that Tehran would continue to engage in dialogue while resisting what he described as pressure from the United States and Western countries.

The envoy acknowledged that challenges remain in the negotiation process but reiterated Iran’s willingness to pursue diplomatic solutions.

Referring to regional tensions, Moghadam claimed that Iran had warned of consequences if an attack on Beirut was carried out. He further alleged that then-US President Donald Trump subsequently contacted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and urged restraint.

According to the ambassador, the reported intervention reflected concerns about the capabilities and potential response of Iran’s armed forces.

The remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East and advancing discussions between Iran and the United States.
