ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has once again summoned the Superintendent of Adiala Jail, directing him to appear in person next Tuesday and submit a report regarding Bushra Bibi’s health condition and prison visitation arrangements.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Bushra Bibi’s daughter seeking permission for access to a personal physician and family meetings.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the case, while Advocate General Islamabad Naveed Hayat Malik and lawyer Salman Akram Raja appeared before the court.
During proceedings, the Advocate General informed the court that the jail superintendent was on his way and requested additional time, stating there was no urgency in the matter.
However, Salman Akram Raja argued that the issue was urgent as Bushra Bibi’s family had been denied meetings. He also noted that the jail superintendent had failed to appear despite prior court orders.
The court expressed displeasure over the non-appearance and ordered that the superintendent must appear in person at the next hearing along with relevant records.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir observed that strict action, including possible arrest, could be taken if the official failed to comply with the court’s directive.
