Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the establishment of the province’s first-ever 50-acre Punjab Film City in Lahore, aimed at promoting local talent and strengthening Pakistan’s creative industry.
In a post on X, the chief minister described the project as a landmark initiative designed in consultation with filmmakers, producers, and actors to develop a complete content creation ecosystem in Pakistan.
According to details, the Film City will feature modern studios and sound stages, advanced visual effects (VFX) and post-production facilities, and diverse backlot sets including a central lake. The project will also include a purpose-built convention hall for international award events.
Other planned facilities include media and trade hubs, a film and music school, dedicated safety and emergency services infrastructure, and a dedicated entertainment district to support industry growth.
CM Maryam said the initiative is expected to create thousands of jobs while empowering local talent and presenting Pakistan’s creative sector on a global stage.
She added that the Film City aligns with her broader vision of transforming Punjab into a hub for technology, innovation, culture, and heritage, calling it a “gift for the youth” where creative aspirations can be realised.
