Punjab has launched a major agriculture and economic uplift initiative titled “Apni Zameen, Apni Mehnat, Apni Fasal, Apna Rozgar,” aimed at boosting livelihoods through farming.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formally inaugurated the portal for the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” scheme.
The initiative includes land allocation worth Rs160 billion for landless rural residents, with agricultural land already identified based on water availability and soil quality.
“Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” scheme
Under the programme, 13,812 agricultural plots across various districts will benefit around 88,780 families, while in Cholistan, 16,685 plots are set to support over 101,111 families.
Selected applicants will receive agricultural land valued between Rs2.5 million and Rs4 million for cultivation.
Senior Member Board of Revenue Nabeel Javaid briefed the chief minister on the details of the scheme.
In addition, beneficiaries will receive a one-time grant ranging from Rs50,000 to Rs250,000 per acre for land development. Overall, 124,374 acres of farmland will be distributed.
Unemployed rural farmers will be allotted land on a 10-year lease, with 43,938 plots identified in districts and 83,425 in Cholistan.
How to apply
Applications can be submitted through the Punjab government website from May 2 to May 18.
Applicants may file appeals with the Deputy Commissioner between June 1 and June 8, while the final list of successful candidates will be announced on June 19. Land distribution is scheduled to begin from June 30.
In cases of multiple applicants, allotment will be decided through a ballot. The land will be strictly reserved for agricultural use, and construction of permanent structures will not be permitted.
Farmers will have the freedom to grow crops of their choice. Each plot will be supported by an agricultural officer and intern for guidance, while a committee comprising the Assistant Commissioner and Agriculture Department will conduct biannual reviews of cultivation.
