Kate Middleton paid a refined tribute to Queen Elizabeth II while attending a special reception at Buckingham Palace marking what would have been the late monarch’s 100th birthday.
The Princess of Wales, 44, joined Prince William and other senior members of the royal family at the commemorative event held on April 21. For the occasion, she wore a long-sleeved lilac dress, opting for a subtle and elegant look in honour of the milestone.
She further added a sentimental touch to her outfit by wearing a three-strand pearl necklace that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II. The late Queen was often seen wearing the piece, including in her final official portrait, making it a meaningful choice for the occasion. Kate has also worn the necklace on previous public appearances since the Queen’s passing in 2022.
The reception was attended by key royal figures, including King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. Members of the public who were also celebrating their 100th birthdays were invited, adding a personal and celebratory element to the gathering.
The event was part of a wider series of tributes honoring Queen Elizabeth’s legacy. Earlier in the week, King Charles and Queen Camilla visited an exhibition featuring the late Queen’s iconic fashion, while Princess Anne unveiled a garden dedicated to her mother’s memory.
