Government Approves Joint Strategy to Modernize Airport Security and Facilities

(Web Desk) – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and senior defense officials have approved a new joint strategy to overhaul security and passenger services at Pakistan’s airports. During a high-level meeting between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defence, the government decided to move away from multiple checkpoints toward a “unified screening system.” Under this new plan, all security agencies will operate from a single joint counter, using advanced scanners to process passengers and luggage at one point. This change is expected to significantly reduce wait times and eliminate the long queues often found at international terminals.

The meeting, which included the Interior and Defence Secretaries as well as the heads of the FIA and Anti-Narcotics Force, also reviewed the progress of installing e-gates at major airports. These electronic gates are designed to automate and speed up the immigration process, allowing for faster clearance of travelers. Interior Minister Naqvi emphasized that providing modern, efficient, and hassle-free travel facilities is a top priority, noting that better coordination between departments will save passengers valuable time. Additionally, the Defence Secretary shared that new specialized equipment is being imported to prevent bird strikes, a move aimed at further enhancing aircraft safety and reducing the risk of accidents during takeoff and landing.
